Daal channa with qeema (chickpea lentil with minced meat)

Ingredients:

1 and half cup daal channa soaked for 1-2 hours
1/4 kg. minced beef/mutton
2 medium onions sliced
1-2 tablespoon ginger garlic paste
small piece of cinnamon stick (daar chini)
2-3 cloves (laung)
2-3 cardamom (ilaichi)
1/4 teaspoon huldi (turmeric powder)
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder (zeera powder)
2 medium tomatoes chopped
1/4 cup yogurt
few coriander leaves
2-3 green chillies
3-4 tablespoons oil
lemon juice (optional)


Method:

Boil daal with a little water till it is just done. it will take around 20-25 mins. heat oil in another pot. add cardamom, cloves and cinnamon stick. add the onions and fry till slightly golden brown. add ginger garlic paste and fry till its aroma is released. add the minced meat and fry a little till the water evaporates. add red chilli powder, cumin powder and turmeric powder. add a little water and fry, otherwise the spices will burn. add the tomatoes and cover lid. lower flame and cook till tomatoes are tender. add in yogurt and cook some more stirring all the while. add boiled daal. tir and add very little water. add the green chillies slitting them in the middle. cover lid and cook on low flame for about 10 mins. garnish with coriander leaves and add lemon juice if desired. serve with naan/chapati/khubz or even boiled rice and salad :)
